He had a change of heart, is now friends with Naruto and everyone's happy again and everyone leaves. They are both down and almost KO'd, Sasuke shows up and so do Gaara's buddies, about to fight each other and then Gaara tells them not to. They realize how similar they are because they are both hosts of tailed beasts. Naruto summons a giant toad and eventually wakes Gaara up, putting the One-Tail away again. He releases the OneTail by falling asleep and lets the OneTail take over his body, destroying a shitload of stuff. Gaara is a pissed off little kid everyone always hated him because of the One-Tails inside him and he hates everyone because of it. Meanwhile Naruto has to fight Gaara, who turns out to be the jinchuuriki (host) for the One-Tail (Naruto has the Nine-Tails inside him). The Third sacrifices himself by using a Death Seal and seals away the souls of the First, the Second and the hands of Orochimaru, preventing him from ever performing any other jutsu (ironic, eh?). He summons the bodies of the First and Second to fight with him. He says he wants immortality because he wants to learn all the jutsu in the world. He ends up fighting the Third Hokage and confesses that he is now immortal because he found a way to switch bodies (his next target body is Sasuke). Later he even killed the Kazekage and assumed his identity. Turns out Orochimaru had a secret alliance with the Kazekage to invade & destroy Konoha. Kakashi taught Sasuke the Chidori-techniques in this arc as well. Naruto also meets Jiraiya in this arc (becoming his apprentice) and he learns how to summon toads. The last fight is between Gaara and Sasuke, but then Orochimaru shows up and puts everyone in a genjutsu and the invasion of Konoha begins. Gaara destroys Rock Lee, Naruto beats Neji ("the genius ninja") and Shikamaru uses great intelligence & planning to beat Temari. Lots of epic battles in this arc and easily one of the best ones to this date (in my opinion). Orochimaru is disguised as a genin and gives Sasuke the cursed seal. Lots of genin from many different countries come to Konoha and they battle each other in preliminary exams. Naruto turns out to be stronger than expected and a nice bit of teamplay allows them to beat their enemies. They get a mission to escort someone, turns out it's much more dangerous and they end up fighting Zabuza & Haku. Sakura is in love with Sasuke, Naruto is in love with Sakura, Sakura doesn't give a shit about Naruto. Sasuke has 1 goal in life: kill his older brother Itachi, who killed their whole clan. Sasuke is supercool and much stronger than Naruto, Naruto envies him. He gets teamed up with Sasuke & Sakura, Kakashi is their teacher. Naruto becomes a genin by learning the secret jutsu "Kage Bunshin no Jutsu".
